SSQC BECOMES SHETLAND ANALYTICAL SERVICES
And grows the team by 30% to meet an increase in business
Shetland-based analytical services company, SSQC, has changed its name to better reflect its current and expanding services. The company will now be known as Shetland Analytical Services.
The business has also increased its laboratory team by 30 per cent to accommodate a rising demand for its services. Two laboratory technicians, two analysts and a laboratory assistant have joined the team.
These major developments reflect confidence in the company’s continued growth and its commitment to delivering high-quality specialist microbiology, chemistry, and water quality testing to an expanding client base.
Managing director, Steven Laidlaw, said: “We’re delighted to now be known as Shetland Analytical Services. Shetland Seafood Quality Control – SSQC – was rooted in the seafood sector, with a particular focus on the aquaculture industry. Today, our business has evolved to serve a much wider UK market seeking a range of microbiology, chemistry, and water quality testing. The new name reflects that.
“At the same time, we are growing our team to meet the increased demand for our services. It’s important to have the right expertise and capacity to maintain the very high standards and timely testing that our clients require. The new roles are high-quality, skilled work opportunities, providing valuable employment for talented professionals in Shetland.”
Shetland Analytical Services is also actively expanding its reach by overcoming the logistical challenges associated with time-sensitive testing for customers across the North East of Scotland.
Steven Laidlaw continued: “The next major step is that we are working towards employee ownership. We expect to share more news on that early in the new year.”
